Luxury brand Six Senses is starting its initial hotel in Australia

February 9, 2023: The luxury hotel brand Six Senses is planning to open its first hotel in Australia inside an old family mansion.

The heritage house and its 22-hectare estate, Burnham Beeches, are 25 miles starting from Melbourne in the forested Dandenong Ranges. A website detailing the home’s history, the house was created in 1933 for an Australian family.

According to a Six Senses press release, it will now be restored after “sitting ignored for far too long,” stated the great-granddaughter of the original owner, Sophie Paterson.

Once renovated, the hotel will have 43 rooms for guests with different layouts. Plans to accept a “premium glamping” option on the estate will get the number of places to 82.

CEO Neil Jacobs said that the unique and historical environment of Burnham Beeches created the “extraordinary assignment” that Six Senses had been waiting for.

The hotel people “had ambitions s coming to Burnham Beeches for some time but needed to search for the right offering and developer,” he said.

The press release stated that the hotel, started by Australian builders Hamilton Marino, will be walking trails, a “natural playground” for children, and gardens that supply ingredients for the kitchen and spa of the hotel.

Jacobs said that the property aims to be a “regenerative” instead of a “static” place.

Six Senses Burnham Beeches is anticipated to open in mid-2025.
