His success as a leader stems from his holistic view of the business, the market, the value proposition for the entire ecosystem, and most importantly, customers’ needs and requirements.

A brief history of Dr. Amalfi’s work experience includes development activities in thermal management of high-performance communications and computing systems at Nokia Bell Labs USA. Since 2016, he worked as a Scientific Collaborator and Laboratory Operations Manager at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne in Switzerland (EPFL).

In 2015, he joined Alcatel-Lucent US, where he performed disruptive research on liquid cooling technologies for network equipment. In 2012, he joined IBM Research Lab in Switzerland, where he developed a novel cooling system for high-performance servers. He has received a Ph.D. in Energy Engineering from the EPFL. He has authored over 60 scientific publications in leading journals, conference proceedings, and handbooks and authored numerous patents. Dr. Amalfi is a Member of IEEE and ASME and a Full Member of the ASME K-16 Heat Transfer Committee, a Member of the OCP Heat Reuse Steering Committee, a Guest Editor for the ASME Journal of Electronic Packaging, and a recipient of numerous IEEE, ASME, and Government Awards for his technological innovations.

Becoming A Successful Leader

Over the last 12 years, Dr. Amalfi’s business endeavors, technical community associations, and research collaborations have led to many different levels of success along his career pathway. SEGUENTE has been the most exciting, challenging, and rewarding endeavor with his talented team.

Dr. Amalfi has advocated for thermal management technologies and is pursuing collaborations with associations and consortiums such as IEEE, ASME, OCP, K16 Heat Transfer Committee, etc. His main advice for young entrepreneurs is, “the foundation to create a successful company starts by having a clear vision while implementing specific goals with a smart and dedicated team,” he explains. – “Always follow your vision, encourage innovation among team members, and remember focus is the key to success. Pursuing your entrepreneurial endeavors will undoubtedly present challenges when launching an emerging company, so stay the course, pivot when needed, and perseverance will prevail in driving your business growth.”

Under the aegis of Dr. Amalfi, SEGUENTE has culminated into an innovative technology company attracting business and technical talents that support the company’s mission of delivering performance and achieving ESG goals in the ICT sector. SEGUENTE cultivates its employees with specific programs to award performance and clearly define goals for career growth.

SEGUENTE employees have the flexibility to add their expertise to create value within the company. The Space Coast of Florida is one of the fastest-growing areas for high-tech companies and collaboration with research centers and universities.

Building A Brilliant Organization

SEGUENTE’s products and services enable next-level performance and sustainability for data centers, high-performance computing, telecom, enterprise, cloud, gaming, workstation, and beyond. According to Dr. Amalfi, everyday applications and more connected devices in mobile broadband, gaming, 5G, Artificial Intelligence, and the Internet of Things (IoT) drive the exponential increase in data processing and storage demands throughout the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector. These demanding workloads and higher power processors require thermal performance far exceeding air-cooling limits to manage the rising heat dissipation for data center hardware such as servers, switches, routers, etc. Therefore, the industry urgently needs novel energy and thermal management technologies.

SEGUENTE has launched COLDWARETM, a direct-to-chip two-phase cooling technology, which utilizes dielectric fluids with low global warming potential flowing through cold plates mounted over the chips located on the motherboards of servers. This flexible architecture can quickly hot-swap servers in a rack. SEGUENTE’s COLDWARE products provide vital differentiators, such as high energy efficiency, rack density, flexibility, and reliability. As a focal point in the growing liquid cooling ecosystem, including server OEMs/ODMs, chip manufacturers, and global parts suppliers, SEGUENTE further offers total turn-key products and services for easy deployment of liquid cooling in data centers.

Along with innovative hardware solutions, SEGUENTE offers added IoT-enabling features with COLDWARE AI. This software platform seamlessly integrates COLDWARE technology with IT equipment and data center infrastructure. Using live data streams from SEGUENTE’s COLDWARE, IT equipment, and facility infrastructure, data center operators can access unprecedented operational insight visibility via real-time telemetry data through an interactive dashboard. In addition, its AI- based predictive analytic and optimization models provide operational insights, such as cooling performance, energy capture efficiency, suggested decision optimization, and beyond. All software features can be easily integrated with other applications, such as data center infrastructure management (DCIM) solutions, through standard API. Data center operators can meet performance and sustainability targets by maximizing energy efficiency, improving reliability, and lowering carbon footprint with SEGUENTE’s software platform.

Building A Great Future

SEGUENTE’s most significant achievements include having a thermal management solution that is hardware agnostic and can be easily scaled based on the variety of workloads needed for different applications. In addition, coupling the proper thermal management solution with the software management tool can provide a better user experience and accommodate the transformation of digital infrastructures.

For the days to come, Dr. Amalfi and his team want to continue co-designing and co-developing liquid-cooling solutions based on the new server and rack architectures. Also, they will continue to provide robust thermal management solutions that are flexible for deployments across all the data center and telecom market segments.

" Always follow your vision, encourage innovation among team members, and remember focus is the key to success. Pursuing your entrepreneurial endeavors will undoubtedly present challenges when launching an emerging company, so stay the course, pivot when needed, and perseverance will prevail in driving your business growth.
