Amazons next Prime Day sale will take place October 11-12

September 27, 2022: -On Monday, Amazon is hosting bring Prime Day-like deal bonanza next month, which marks when it will hold two such events in the same year.

The company said that the event, which it’s calling the “Prime Early Access Sale,” will happen Oct. 11-12. The event is open to Amazon members of the Prime subscription program and features “hundreds of thousands” of holiday deals, says Jamil Ghani, vice president of Prime, in an interview.

Prime Day is held once a year during the summer. But Amazon tweaked the event’s timing in 2020 and 2021, as the Covid-19 pandemic strained its operations. The company has experimented with other discount events, like an apparel sale, a pet-focused event, and a decreased beauty event.

Ghani refused to say whether Amazon plans to host over one sales event for Prime members, which moves forward.

By setting a deal event for October, Amazon plays into a trend that’s gained momentum in the last few years. Major retailers have begun announcing promotions well ahead of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, mainly because over sales are moving online.

The recent sales event could help jumpstart holidays which shops early for Amazon as the company stares down, slows a potential recession, soaring inflation, raising interest rates, and the excess expansion undertaken during the pandemic.

Holiday sales are expected to grow from the previous year. Still, much of the increase will be driven by higher prices, according to a Bain & Co. forecast. Shoppers will probably be on the hunt for discounts more than ordinary wallets feel the strain.

“These days, it’s not lost on you or me that folks try to make their dollar stretch,” Ghani added.
